Also known as “The Homo Homie,” originated from El Monte, California. He is one of eight siblings and the proud product of Mexican migrants and is first generation Mexican American.
Being a charismatic, loving and likable guy that possesses many great qualities, he’s managed to garner amazing long lasting friendships that have helped cultivate and shape his career. Currently Erick is the Host of his own podcast show
“The Homo Homie Podcast.”
Erick is an established individual who is well rounded in the arts and is known as a triple threat. He attended and completed a 3-year music conservatory program in Glendora, California at Citrus Community College. His training consisted in studying theater, dance and vocal music, ranging from classical to musical theater with the Citrus Singers Group. During his time there he was an active member in the community and became a well, seasoned performer in the U.S. and traveled to various countries within South America and Central Europe. If you ask him, he just might show you his favorite skill of being able to walk on top of a buoy ball.
In completing the conservatory program he was fortunate enough in 2009 to meet and make a lasting friendship by becoming a right-hand side for a local radio personality Raquel “RaqC” Cordova. While working alongside RaqC, in July of 2010 he appeared on the reality series premier of “Jenni Rivera Presents “Chiquis and RaqC,” as himself and is in episodes 3 and 11. In February 2013 to 2014 giving you the daily sports report, he was the first, openly gay Spanglish (Spanish and English) on air sports correspondent known as ‘Erick-A, The Sports Homo Homie,” for Exitos 93.9 FM (Radio Centro 93.9 –KXOS) . He then in November of 2016 to 2018 went to the CBS/Entercom Studios handling talent, curating schedules and editing and distributing media content becoming the Media Administrator for the podcast “Amber Rose Presents “Risqué with RaqC and Rubi.” Erick was an on air talent for the digital broadcasting platform DASH Radio for the Tattoo and the Crew Show (August 2019 – September 2019) . He was known as “The Homo Homie,” reporting on the Gay News every Friday from 7-10 A.M. PST on Ice Cube Presents BIG3 Radio.
Not only has he worked in broadcasting but has also helped in establishing a 501c3 non profit started by RaqC called “Amigas 4 My Soul.” It’s an organization that he is proud to support that helps to inspire all women to live purposefully and courageously regardless of their background, age, financial status or sexual orientation and provide tools for them to build a better tomorrow.
Throughout his life and career, Erick has been blessed enough to freely be himself and is proud of being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. His ability to connect with people, regardless of his sexual preference, has opened doors to allow room for safe spaces wherever he’s been. He’s not afraid to help others understand about his LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters and is helping to bridge that gap by creating inclusivity and creating allies. He is always willing to ask questions and learn from his community to help get a better understanding of what’s going on, all while continuing to learn about himself.
What Erick is most proud of and is fortunate to be blessed with, is becoming a full time legal guardian to his niece. He took over legal guardianship when she was 5 in 2011 and has never been a prouder Guncle (Gay Uncle). Raising a life has been the greatest challenge and accomplishment that he has ever done and nothing will ever top that.
